An industry promotion conference with the theme of "Innovation of calcium-based new materials and construction of a green industrial chain" was held in Hezhou recently, aiming to promote the high-end and green development of the calcium carbonate industry, deepen the industrial cooperation in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and create a new material industry cluster with national influence.
Relying on rich calcium carbonate resources, Hezhou has formed a complete industrial chain from mining to end products, realizing efficient resource utilization. The local proven reserves of marble are 2.6 billion cubic meters, of which high-quality white marble accounts for more than 70%, and the purity of calcium carbonate is as high as 96%, providing a solid foundation for industrial development.
"We are accelerating the extension of the calcium carbonate industry to high value-added fields, focusing on the development of downstream products such as degradable materials and functional masterbatches." Relevant person in charge of Hezhou City said. In 2023, the local calcium carbonate downstream industry investment promotion achieved remarkable results, and the investment amount of newly signed projects accounted for more than 60%, reaching 12.6 billion yuan. At present, there are nearly 600 calcium carbonate industry chain enterprises in the city, with an annual output value of over 35 billion yuan, among which the Pinggui District industrial cluster was rated as a national characteristic industry demonstration zone.
This promotion meeting was fruitful, with 33 industrial projects signed on site, with a total investment of nearly 25 billion yuan. The event also set up a product exhibition and sales area, attracting more than 500 companies to participate in the exhibition, covering stone processing, environmentally friendly degradable materials, intelligent equipment and other fields.
"Our biodegradable products have entered the Hong Kong market, and this year's sales have exceeded 10 million yuan." The person in charge of an exhibitor introduced. During the event, many special meetings such as stone carving art seminars and masterbatch technology innovation will also be held to further promote industry exchanges and cooperation.
It is reported that Hezhou will continue to optimize the industrial ecology, promote the deep integration of the calcium carbonate industry with the new generation of information technology, and cultivate a more competitive new material industry cluster.
